DEPARTURE FROM the EU

The U.K. is no longer an EU Member State. It is not part of the Customs Union or Single Market and therefore different rules apply to exporting. For many businesses this is a confusing time. It is estimated 135,000 U.K. companies have only ever supplied to the EU previously, so have no experience of customs declarations, licences, Vat on import, rules of origin etc.

The UK-EU Trade & Cooperation Agreement finalised at the eleventh hour has done little to alleviate the confusion, though it does offer tariff free trade for qualifying goods.

SIITACE members are specialists in managing EU Exit and supporting clients with their transition planning. We are pleased to provide this knowledge bank with articles to help you tackle the biggest challenges in international trade for a generation.

OVERALL EU EXIT CHALLENGES

Despite the challenges, EU Exit also provides opportunities to businesses willing to open their strategy to new markets. Selling to the USA, Thailand or China are now require substantially the same customs processes as selling to the EU. So why not reassess your strategy and look to broaden your horizons.

How to manage the challenges such as VAT, Rules of Origin, Customs Declarations, Incoterms and so on. Plus how to take advantage of the new international business landscape.

Our aim is to inform and assist, to stimulate ideas. Our members are here to help and provide specialist support in all aspects of EU Export and International Growth.
